Dick George has been involved in veteran’s affairs since his discharge in 1958 from the 101st Airborne Division, Ft. Campbell Kentucky.  He served as Adjutant to the President of the New England Chapter of the 101st Airborne Division for 7 years.

While serving as Adjutant, he supported and handled fundraising for Fisher House of Boston, a facility that houses veterans’ families while they are being treated at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Boston.  He also raised funds for “Hugs for Heroes” a group of young people who send packages of needed personal articles to troops serving in the field both in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Dick organized the first deep sea fishing trip for veterans of the New England Chapter in 2012.

In addition, Dick was instrumental in introducing a bill to the New Hampshire State Senate to dedicate a portion of Highway 101 to the 101st Airborne Division Screaming Eagles Highway. After leaving the New England Chapter, Dick organized Massachusetts Special Events through the authority of the 101st Airborne Division Association at Fort Campbell KY starting in April of 2013.  Under the new organization, Dick coordinated the very successful Massachusetts Special Events deep sea fishing trip for approximately 35 area veterans and homeless veterans from Boston sailing out of Salisbury, Massachusetts in both 2013 and 2014.

He continues to help families of veterans when the need arises, especially around the holidays.
