A wedding is one of the biggest moments of a lifetime; full of family, friends, and fairytale memories, all enhanced by the perfect wedding dress. For many couples, weddings can be an exciting time but also a stressful one, even more so when your partner is in the military. The stress can dampen the magic of planning the wedding dreamed of by many brides-to-be.

Heidi Janson, the owner of a bridal salon, asked herself the question, “What can I do to help the men and women who sacrifice so much to support our country?” She saw that the answer was right in front of her. She founded and became CEO of Brides Across America, a non-profit organization committed to honoring Veterans and First Responders by gifting weddings and wedding gowns to help make their dreams come true.

Since 2008, Brides Across America (BAA) has gifted over 22,000 dresses to military and first responder brides and over 20 free weddings. Each year BAA hosts dozens of “Operation Wedding Gown” giveaway events at participating bridal salons nationwide. Events are held in July (around Independence Day) and November (around Veteran's Day).

Heidi created a beautiful system of people helping people that hasturned into a life-changing organization. Thousands of dresses have been donated from bridal shops, individuals, and designers, that are then gifted to the brides.

In July 2018, BAA will be opening a one-of-a-kind shop in Andover, MA. The BAA Charity Shop features thousands of beautiful, donated dresses that are available to the public at a discounted price. One hundred percent of all purchases will give back toour heroesthat serve us daily. The BAA Charity Shop will also impact the surrounding communities by offering more events and programs to serve those that serve us. However, the most unique and generous part of the shop is that all dresses are free to brides of military and first responders, at any time.

The importance of supporting our country's heroes is the heartbeat of this organization. Heidi has never lost sight of her focus to help those who keep our country safe, every day. “My goal, when I started, was to add joy and happiness to the lives of couples that have given so much. If I touch just one person's life, I've done my job."

The impact of helping our heroes’ dreams come true will never go out of style.
